Scribie is a transcription audio/video service company, founded in 2008 by Rajiv Poddar. Scribie noticed a problem in the transcription industry in those years. Rajiv wants to have a high-quality transcription for customers, and also a right way for transcribers who are looking for their transcription work.
Rajiv making a system that can speed up the process of transcription, and keep the accuracy and the quality of the transcription process. Up to 99% accuracy for each transcript of audio/video files at reasonable cost.
Scribie has the certified transcription, and you can have it too when you’re joining Scribie. This is a good place for transcribers because you can get paid for the transcription work, and you will find customers by Scribie.
How can you detect a platform that’s a scam? It’s usually terrorizing you with spam emails, or maybe you will get so many calls from the scam platform. Scammers aggressively talk about how quick you can get the money, and how easy you can get big numbers with no time.
I understand why so many people are skeptical about making money online, especially if there’s a new platform for them. But if you search about Scribie, it’s not a scam at all. Because a lot of people already joined and get paid for transcription jobs. You can get their address on the bottom of their website when you found something scammy to you, and you can go crosscheck on that address.
Even though Scribie is not a scam, there’s still a lot of comments about how bad Scribie is. Some of the bad feedback or review come from other transcription industries (which is comparing the payments and the job method). When people first knowing about transcription job and can get paid, they want to try it. Because it sounds easy, and you can get money. But it’s not as easy as it seems, because you need to be accurate and have fast fingers to type all the audio/video saying.
Some of the videos/audios have their own difficulty. Sometimes, there’s a noise that can interrupt the speaker says, and some accents are hard to decipher.
You need the necessary skills for being a transcriber if you want to finish the transcription job.
Same as learning other skills, you need to get practice if you want to be better at it. Or you can do the training by yourself, before you joining any transcription company, with transcribing audio or video online. When you have experience in transcribing, it will be good for you to earn decent money, and you can take more transcription jobs.
Not all people have sensitive hearing and typing skill because it needs time to learn and practice. Especially if you want to take any action to make money online with less time, you probably not taking these transcription jobs. Take online surveys like Swag Bucks or Gold Opinions is an excellent opportunity for you to be a fast typist for your transcription experience.
Yeah, these platforms only give you extra cash, not decent money like your primary job, but you can try the most straightforward job like watching videos or even playing games!
Now, when you already know Scribie is not a scam, let’s talk about our next Scribie review, what’s inside the Scribie. Once you get hired from Scribie as a certified transcriber, here are the steps of what you can do inside the platform:
The transcription jobs in Scribie involves some steps, which are:
I said about going deep talking about Scribie review, right? Because I will tell you about the requirements if you want to be hired by Scribie. Which are:
Before you are being certified transcriber at Scribie, you need to pass their certification test first. The steps are:
Go to the Freelance Transcription page, and click the Apply tab. You need to write down your PayPal account, and if you don’t have it, then you can make one. After that, Scribie will give you an application number. This number can help you to track your status.
Immediately after you send your application, Scribie will send you an email, and you need to confirm it. After confirming the email, your application will be processed to the next step.
Wait for the business day, because your application will be reviewed by Scribie in other than weekends, but it also might take longer. Scribie will give you an email when you’re getting hired or not. If you’re getting hired, you can monitor your status on the Apply tab page.
After creating an account, make sure your start on the waiting list. When the time comes, Scribie will give you an email that will be redirected to the main site.
Log in and take your test. You can choose one from several files and transcribe as best as you can. Re-check it before you submit the test. After that, Scribie will check your test, and if you pass their test, you will get another email.
You will get an email from Scribie, and that email is the review date after you submitting the test. When you already pass on that test, you will be the Certified Transcriber from Scribie.
There are some notes for your information, and you will get your money when you can surpass the test for the file that you already transcribe. But if your transcribe job test is fail, then you will not get paid. As I told you earlier, you can re-check your submitted work to see and identify what is wrong.
You can re-take the test up to 10 times. You can do the transcription job once you’re getting hired by taking one assignment. Also, you can cancel your own assignments with no penalty.
The payments depend on the quality and the level of difficulty each audio. You can see on their website, and they can pay $5 to $25 per audio hour. Remember, you can count your payments per audio hour, not for your work hour. That means, when you can finish per audio hour with two or three hours, then you can count how much you can earn per hour you work on that file.
Let’s say per 6 minutes file, you can finish it for 15 minutes, and you can get $0.5 to $2 with decent audio difficulty. And you can arrange how much you can get per hour your transcription work. Remember, transcription work is not an easy job, but it’s not hard either. It needs experience and has a useful skill for transcribing and mind the accuracy.
You can withdraw your payments to your PayPal account anytime you want. Some platforms will take any requirement for the first withdraw, but in Scribie, you can take any amount that is already on your Scribie account (but you will be charge a 2% fee when you withdraw below than $30. Make sure you’re withdrawing only once a day, and the transfer funds will go to your PayPal account in only one business day.
And one more thing, you can only withdraw once a day. The good news, though, is that it only takes them one business day to transfer funds to your PayPal account.
Scribie has bonuses for transcription jobs. For every three hours files you can complete, Scribie will give you a $5 bonus each month. The bonuses will come to your credited account every first of the month.
When you want to get more money from Scribie, They also have an Affiliate system by giving you a referral link that you can share with others. You will earn some commissions when you can bring more customers and new transcribers that click your link. The commissions on Affiliate and Transcribers is different, 5% when new customers placed their orders and 2.5% when you can bring new transcribers.
I wonder why so many people have a complaint about Scribie. For example, when you are looking at Glassdoor reviews, the average score to Scribie is 2 out of 5. This is surprising for me because I think Scribie is a good platform for making money online.
There are some good reviews and bad reviews, but I didn’t expect the score is low. To me, Scribie is worth 4 out of 5. The positive reviews are talking about good support staff, and a good source for beginners when they want to learn about transcription jobs.
The negative reviews are talking about payments, the amount is not good at all, and sometimes Scribie has a terrible reviewer. But if you can see deeply, all of the transcription companies have these kinds of complaints. So, there’s not new for me when facing negative reviews like that.
Think it like this, if Scribie has that bad as a company, the company itself will not survive until now. They’re just people blaming around the situation, and remember, what do you expect for making money online when it’s just for getting extra cash?
There’s another chance for you to get extra money online through transcription jobs. It depends on you whether you choose Scribie as your platform or not, but be careful when you’re read reviews from other websites, sometimes it can be true, sometimes it is not.
There’s a lot of transcription platforms out there, but you will never find a platform that has a perfect score and having reasonable payments that as the same as your primary job. It’s impossible.
If transcription jobs it’s not your field, then you can choose to make money online by taking online surveys like Gold Opinions and Swag Bucks. There’s another potential for you, hope these kinds of the platform can help you to earn more money online.
That’s all about my Scribie review. I hope this will help you to decide on joining Scribie or not. If you have any questions, experience, and comments about Scribie, you can write in the comments section below.
